Voting......

I don't know how many of you realized it, but there was a Primary Election held Tuesday here in Utah. I guess that the vast majority of the residents of this great State had no idea that Tuesday was an election day. I know that it wasn't a final election, it also is not a Presidential Election year, but to have nearly 80% of the State not vote. I mean come on! That is ridiculous.

Darcy and I watched the local Cedar City/St. George News broadcast prior to going to vote. The news reporter was talking to the voting judge at one district in St. George, they had only had 15 people vote all day till the 5PM News cast. That is horrible! It took Darcy and I longer to turn off the TV and get to the Poll than it did to vote, but at least we voted. I know that Cedar City is pretty small population wise, about 25,000 full time residents. The top two Vote getters for City Council drew a little over 1000 votes, in all there were probably 4500 votes cast.

This is a trend that needs to stop! The silent majority can not remain silent! It needs to get out and let their vote scream for them! All Citizens of this great Nation need to vote, it is their Constitutional Right. That is something that many brave souls have fought and died for us to have! It is pathetic that some of the Presidential Election was decided with something around 48% of the voting population voting, while 52% did nothing.

I guess something that I heard a long time ago dictates my feelings on voting who said it whether it was my father,or just who it was that said, "if you don't vote, then just keep your mouth shut if you don't like who was elected. You already made up your mind that you didn't care enough to vote, so why complain now"!
