Well I've now visited about 13 homes in this year's parade of homes and my overall feeling has been that they have everything except one thing - uniqueness. The homes are beautiful and in many cases extravagant, but when I attempt to remember one home in particular, I really can't because they've all melded together in my mind.
They all have the granite, hardwood, bowl sinks, blah blah... Don't get me wrong, those features are very nice, but where's the individuality? Maybe it's that I have some expectation to be met that just isn't out there. Whatever it is, before the parade is over I hope to see a home that really jumps out and grabs my attention. I've heard there's one that has a barn/castle/desert feel to it. What that means exactly I'm not sure, but maybe that one will be the one.

Nathan, I'm with ya. I visit our parade every year and am always dissapointed somewhat. I am usually impressed with the quality of construction, but sometimes wonder if they don't have a design meeting before hand to agree on what features they will all include. A lot of times they even hire the same interior decorator - and everyone knows the minute they walk into the house who it is.
They did stray from this a bit last year and a house or two stood out, but overall he results as a whole were over the top and many have not yet sold.
It's been a while since I visited a parade of homes in Utah. I currently live in LA and there is plenty of uniqueness, perhaps the builders', architect's and designer's need to take a trip.
Monique, I would welcome that trip if it means improvement
Kimberly, I have a feeling that the same thing might happen here this year
