Utah Trucking Association Awards Banquet

Utah Trucking Association Awards Banquet. Last night I had the privledge of attending the Utah Trucking Association Awards Banquet for Driver Safety with my husband who is not a truck driver but a manager for Les Schwab Tire Center in SLC and I believe a sponsor of some sort for the UTA. The awards banquet was held at the Little America Hotel Ballroom, which is always a fun time with great food.

The night started with the Pledge of Allegiance! Now that was awesome so many people commented that they haven't recited it since elementry school, sad, but thats another conversation for another time. The introduction was followed by a fabulous dinner and awards.

One aspect that I loved was how humble all the drivers were. The miles they travel in and out of traffic, each driver had their safe miles announced. Some of the drivers had up to 5million miles traveled driving truck with out a ticket or any ty


pe of violation. Unbelieveable. Their speaches were humble and their families and companies so proud.

The awards were followed by some entertainment provided by Nathan Osmond. I have lived in Utah 9 years now and I still laugh at how often an Osmond shows up as the entertainment for an event in Utah.

So next time you're on the road give the big truck some room. Be patient, take a minute to realize how much we depend on the truck drivers. They supply all of us with all everyday goods, from food to clothing, the truck drivers haul it across the United States to all of our stores and distribution centers. All the items don't magically appear there, a truck driver delivered it. One way or another at least 80% of items were delivered by a truck driver.

Thank you to all the truck drivers out there!! and congratulations to all the drivers of the month, safety supervisors of the year, tropper of the year, driver of the year and all the truck driving champions.
