Bug extermination

Any suggestions on how to exterminate this bug? We have had box elders for ever and now these "things" have shown up. I hate bugs and yes I am a whimp. I hate the sound they make when you squish them. I hate the noise this bug makes when it flies by you. I've been told its a pine beedle, anyone a bug lover or bug exterminator? Suggestions on what works best to kill them (sorry bug lovers)? I have been using wasp/hornet spray, I'm getting pretty good with my aim and it stops them immediately... but its getting expensive
