There is a new "no cost" alternative to home staging on the market and they are calling it Designer Hometending. The Designer Hometending (DHT) team finds renters who live in the home while it is on the market. They aree to take care of the house, furnish it, and pay utility bills. The tenders in turn get a cheaper place to stay then they would otherwise.
This would be a good option for someone who does not want to pay a property management company to find renters or does not want to find renters on their own but does not want to leave the house vacant because they have a feeling that the house will be on the market for a long time.
I see two potential challenges with this service: 1) Making sure that the renters actually take care of the place and furnish with visually appealing accessories. It would do more harm than good to have a stained mattress in the corner of a room. 2) Coordinating with the tenders for showings. The tenders are going to have to be absent during the showings no question about it. If the property is popular, then it is going to be very difficult for the tender to live there when there are showings everyday.
