Utah Snow Day: Tubing, Toboggans, and Treasured Memories

For now in this moment nothing can be heard outside, it’s quiet as if God has said “all be still and feel the peacefulness during this holiday season.” He gently holds out His hands and one by one millions of soft beautiful snowflakes fill the sky. As I watch the snow fall I am reminded to take advantage of this quiet moment and ponder on all the goodness in my life. My family, friends, profession and my…children from the background yell with excitement, “Momma and Pops it’s snowing, can we go sledding today?”

All things quiet must be filled with gold, that being the joy of spending time with family and friends. One of our favorite past times is to bundle up the kids in all their winter attire and make our way to a local hill for some good ‘ol Utah snow sledding.

Oh, Julie..I love snow and the links you provided look like a lot of fun! Stay warm!

Julie- Tristan is begging me to take him to see snow! What a fun photo!  WOW! Look at your cluster map! All over the place! Which html code did you use from Cluster maps, the short version or the long version? Katerina

Julie:  You KNOW how much I want it to snow here for Christmas. I'm like a little kid. Maybe I'm not yelling loud enough for God to hear me. Help me yell, Julie!!! Have fun, darling! Your post is beautiful...just like YOU! GBU!!

Julie: I would love to play in the snow with you guys! It looks like a whole lot of fun!

JULIE:  This photo reminded me of a time that I went to Pennsylvania.  My wife and I and another couple rented a house in the Poconos to celebrate the new Millennium on New Year's.  We went to the mountain and went tubing for hours.  It was one of the best times that I ever had.  Of course, the snow wasn't nearly as nice as the hill that's in your photo, but the memories were great just the same.  Thanks for sharing.

Julie - What a fun day! Great job on this post. Happy wintertime to you!

Julie, I do have memories of those snow days.  My kids loved it, now I wasn't as thrilled since our house in Colorado faced north (lol).  It looks like fun!

Julie, Gee, it's been so long since I've actually gone out and played in the snow, I always think about all the work that goes with it.  Thanks for a wonderful reminder I can enjoy it, too!

Julie,

Those snow tubes look like so much fun....now I want to take a day off! This is good localism information. :)

Julie - This reminds me when I was a kid. We had those wooden sleds and those plastic blue saucers, we only had one hill in our neighborhood, but it was enough to intimidate me at such a tender age! Great memories of the snow when I was child, after 30+ years in Arizona, I have to travel to Utah or several hours up north. This is a great post and certainly begs at the child in me! I am thinking snowmobiling would be a blast!

Julie,
Now that looks like fun!  As much I don't like cold, I think I could enjoy that if I could put on enough warm clothes and still move.

Linda: There are so many places to go play and have fun out here.  Snow skiing, snowmobiling, and snow tubing. You are welcome to come and hang out with me in Utah anytime. Thank you for stopping by to comment.

Katerina: I'm not sure whether it was the short or long version.  I will log in and try to figure that one out for you.  Sorry about that. As far as the snow, you my friend are welcome to Utah anytime.  We could have everybody meet here for a snow day.

Elizabeth: I will help you yell for snow, but until the snow makes it there you are more than welcome to come and hang out with me in Utah.  So jump in your car or on the plane and we can go and have a snow ball fight. He, he, he!

Alecia: You aren't too horribly far from us, I'll meet you half way then you can come and play with us in the snow.  We should just make it an AR snow day party.  big hugs to you!

Adam: Now that sounds like a lot of fun.  The Poconos?  Oh I can't tell you how that has been one of my dreams to go there.  This is going to sound absolutely goofy, but when my hubby and I were engaged I was certain that is exactly where we would go for our honeymoon. Never made it there, but the thought has never cleared my mind.  I'll have to call on you for some travel ideas to go there. Thank for stopping by.

Tom: Happy Wintertime to you too my friend!  This was a fun post.  The interesting thing was that when I was googling to find places to go tubing and have a snow day, it was like a treasure hunt.  Hopefully this will make it easier for those on the search. Have a wonderful week!

Marchel:  Great memories for sure.  Growing up in Colorado you had your share of snow as well.  We've had a great time going.  Usually as many times as we can possibly go before the snow melts.  Thank you for your comments.

Carole: I'm glad to have inspired you to jump in the snow and have a wonderful time with that cold fluffy stuff.  Doesn't it feel good to jump in and be a kid again?  Ahhh

Suzanne: My boys love the snow tubes because you get going a bit faster.  Me? Well, I get a little nervous about the big hills and the fast downhill slide, but once I make it down I'm ready for more. Thanks for stopping by.

Candace: Oh yes, I remember the wooden sleds.  We even used to ride down on garbage sacks at school everyday.  Now that's funny too.  You are welcome to come and play in the snow with us anytime my friend.  If you're not up for snow tubing, snowmobiling will be on our list. Thanks for stopping by.

Cynthia: Oh you would love this.  It truly is so much fun.  I would love to have everybody come out to Utah for a snow day.  You are welcome to join us anytime.  Thank you for stopping by.

Julie, some of the most fun I had as a kid was spending the snowy days in Boston riding down the hills on a sled or tube.  My elementary school playground had one of the best hills around.  The best part was coming home to some great hot chocolate.  A fun post for those looking for a good time in the Utah snow!

Julie

That looks like a blast!

Hope you have a great Christmas!

Tom Braatz

Lovely Post Julie - photos are awesome - looks like alot of fun - we also had a foot of snow over the weekend in NW Indiana - we were out showing homes with boots and parkas and other things on your list LOL

happy Holidays to you & your beautiful family.

Sincerely,

Grace

Julie, one thing I know about snowy days (not that I get to see them that often), is how quiet it is when the snow falls. Utah has some great nature. I've skiied the Park City area.

Brian: Thank you for stopping by and sharing the fun memories you have had.  It's definitely a must to have that hot chocolate waiting to get warm and toasty.

Tom: It is always a lot of fun to get out and play in the snow.  Thank you for stopping by and Merry Christmas to you too.

Grace: WOW!  That is a lot of snow.  You keep yourself safe and warm and happy holidays to you and your family as well.  Big hugs!

Gary: Park City huh?  It is beautiful here in Utah.  My favorite part about it is driving up in the mountains any time of the year and feeling the peace and quiet.  Thank you for stopping by.

Julie, that sounds like so much fun! I do remember a time or two in my 35+ years where we could have done this here in Alabama. It must be nice to have such an annual tradition and opportunity in your area. I am jealous.

I somehow missed this one the first time around.  It looks like a LOT of fun.  I haven't done any tubing since I was a kid.  I hope you have a terrific Christmas if we don't talk before then.

Stephen: Only a time or 2?  Wow!  I guess I need not take our snow days for granted.  It is a fun tradition indeed.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Jason: Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well.

Jules ~  Wishing we had snow here in Oregon.  I love snow.  At least we are going to go up and play in it in Leavenworth Washington for our annual trip here in a few days!  :)  Good localism post!  :)  A continued Happy Christmas to you all...

Hi Julie - Neat post. I always loved going out sledding as a kid. This brought me back to my childhood when all the gang would get together to have a fun day in the snow. Have a great Christmas.

Sarah: I wish for you to have so much fun in the snow and Happy Holidays my friend.  Thank you for continually supporting me and I look forward to 2008 with all my friends here.

Bill: Oh the memories.  I'm so glad this post brought those memories back to you and thank you for being here to comment.  You have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
