VETERANS DAY AT THE ALEXANDRIA BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM

Celebrate and honor the African American men and women who fought for our country at this annual program featuring speakers, music and dramatic presentations, sponsored by the ALEXANDRIA BLACK HISTORY MUSEUM and the Alexandria branch of the NAACP. Due to limited seating, reservations are requested but not required to attend the event. Call 703.746.4356 for more information to make reservations.

VETERANS DAY is also a good day to visit the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORPS at Quantico which opened November 2006. Or, make a visit to ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY where more than 200,000 veterans and their dependents are buried. Memorial sites include the IWO JIMA MEMORIAL dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775.

The Washington, D.C. area is home to many museums, memorials and historical sites, many of which will be celebrating VETERANS DAY in some way. It won't be hard to find a place honoring Veterans Day - the hardest part will be deciding where to go.
