Rita's Italian Ice and Custard In Alexandria VA Sprinkles Happiness To Area School Kids

Just off I-395 and Duke Street, Alexandrians can stay cool with Rita's Italian Ice, aka 'Rita's'. The current special is FREE SPRINKLES for school aged children to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer.

Rita's offers a wide variety of Ice flavors.

My favorite, this week, is Passion Fruit. The samples are always free, and with over 30 flavors to try, I'm sure that you'll come to have more than one favorite. This week Passion Fruit knocked Mango out of the #1 spot.

The newest flavor, Juicy Pear was also very pleasing to the palate, but was not enough to trump my hankering for Passion Fruit.

Other notable favorites of mine are the Pina Colada and the Florida Orange. The Pina Colada even has bits of pineapple, and the Florida Orange is powerfully flavorful. But word on the street is that the newest flavor to the family will be Bubble Gum. Hmmm, bubble gum flavored ice, that sounds like a winner!

I'm a sucker for the 'usual' ICE, so I've yet to get my hands on the Blendini treat. I'm a big fan of Reeses peanut butter cups, so I'm looking forward to taste testing that combination and the Heath Blendini.

Crunched favorite candy bar plus custard, sounds like a sinful mix. But delicious ice cream treats are part of what makes summer memorable.

I would highly recommend the Mango Misto. When you need something a little thicker than ICE, the Misto can be the way to go. Your favorite ICE flavor, mixed with some vanilla custard blended together like a shake. It's the perfect treat when you have to drop in, get back on the road, and don't want to spoon the ICE.

It didn't quite make it to 90 degrees today, but with the Washington DC humidity, it felt like it!

But that's ok, I had my Rita's Ice to help keep me cool.

Make it a point to stop by Rita's Ice if you're in and around Alexandria. There's usually a line, but it's always worth it.

And yes, I did get the BRAIN FREEZE while enjoying the Passion Fruit flavored Italian Ice, but isn't that part of the fun?
