I’ve noticed a trend in my last few open houses…neighbors coming in and apologizing! Sunday was no different, a few sets of neighbors came to my open and I had barely introduced myself before they said “I’m just a neighbor, I’m sorry we were curious about the house.” SORRY? No need to apologize to me, I encourage neighbors to come and I love it when they show up. I made sure to let them know that I was happy they had come and welcome any other neighbors that they know who might want to stop by.
I would assume most agents want neighbors at their opens too but, maybe I’m wrong. I look at it as a chance to make a connection and show them what I offer when I list a home. Even if they aren’t looking to sell anytime soon that’s fine by me. That’s why it’s called an OPEN house – neighbors, Sunday drivers and possibly a potential buyer are ALL welcome.
