It can be difficult to sift through a document and know what in the heck is going on!
When it comes to land plats, there are acronyms galore. Here are some basic definitions that will help you better read and understand your land plat or the land plat of a property you may purchase:
AWN: Awning
BE: Basement Entrance
BRL: Building Restriction Line
CO: Clean Out
CONC: Concrete
CTV: Cable Television
DB: Deed Book
IPF: Iron Pipe Found
IPS: Iron Pipe Set
LP: Light Pole
MY: Minimum Yard
N/F: Now or Formally
OVHD: Overhead
PG: Page
POL: Point On Line
RET: Retaining
R/W: Right of Way
STP: Stoop
TELE: Telephone
WM: Water Meter
Set Back: Distance from property line to principle structure.
Ties: Distance from the physical improvement to the description of record. Ties are related to the subject property.
