Ashburn is a major employment center for Northern Virginia. High tech employment has seen steady growth in Ashburn Virginia since the early 1990s as the attraction of Dulles Airport, smart tax incentives to employers and major road improvement to manage traffic has made this area a target for national and international companies.
Home buyers have benefited from this growth as major builders were attracted to the area. Prices are far lower than Fairfax County real estate and the public schools in Loudoun County are popular and scholastic achievement is high.

Looks like a highly sought after area the list price to sales price are so close.
Lenn, more cities and towns need to be more proactive like this town in creating conditions that attract businesses to the area.
Hi Lenn, I see the changes taking place around the country and see that sales are up. With the price ranges of Loudoun County, these home purchasers are probably not 1st time Buyers claiming the tax credit. It just looks like the better market conditions are becoming more apparent in more places. Would that be correct here as well?
William. I believe that the buyer traffic in Loudoun County and especially in areas like Ashburn are employment related. This is a unique area for business growth. The builders are simply taking an opportunity to tab buyer activity. Lots of relocation to the area.
George. I could write volumes about that subject. Virginia has had a series of very smart governors beginning with Governor Douglas Wilder who attracted businesses to the Dulles Corridor.
Terry. Indeed. We have very serious buyers in Loudoun County.
Lenn- how do you get the stats on the new home closings? Our recording office is quite slow so sales may not show on the tax records for 3 or 4 months after closing here.
Katerina. Some builders have their homes in the MLS.
Lenn- Oh, I see. Here that does not happen very often. Only the very small builders.
