December's Season of Celebrations & Sharings: Santa's Fire Engine Drive-By in Bristow
When I celebrated my first Christmas season in Bristow's community of Braemar, I vividly recall getting ready for my husband's office Christmas party and hearing emergency sirens. They weren't ending. And they were getting close. I was absolutely convinced that there had to be some major tragedy unfolding in our neighborhood. I stood outside, smelled for smoke and came up empty. Hmmmmm. Maybe it's a car accident. Whatever it was it must be massive because the sirens didn't stop.
What I learned that day is the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department does an annual Santa drive-by. They put Santa on top of one of the rigs, the entourage starting with the ambulance escort, and blast their sirens and flash their lights to let everyone know Santa is coming to town.
Today, December 17, 2011, residents of Braemar west of Sudley Manor Drive will have their chance to see Santa as he drives by on that big 'ole firetruck and waves to the kids. The tell tale sirens have already started as of 10:30am. When he comes down your street, be sure to pop out and wave hello.
