Economic Development Sees Upswing in Isle of Wight County, Virginia

Easy Access To All Of Life’s Conveniences

Economic development in the Carrollton area of Isle of Wight County has been on a fast pace since the Founders Pointe community began. Less than two years after International Paper shuttered its Isle of Wight paper mill, leaving 1,100 people without jobs and a gaping $5.7 million hole in county coffers, Isle of Wight County is on an economic upswing.

In October, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. announced plans to open a $180 million roasting, grinding and packaging facility for its signature single-portion coffees, K-Cup packs, in Windsor's Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park. Opening in May 2012, the company will hire 800 employees over five years.
