My mom's historic home in Chatham, VA - circa 1890
I'm visiting my mom's home in Chatham, VA where she has renovated an old home dating back to the 1890's. This home was originally built as an wedding present for a wealthy plantation owner's daughter. Built between 1887-1890, this home is one of the many historic homes in Chatham, VA. This area was critical to the civil war as a major weapons manufacturing center for the south and it's located about 20 miles from Danville, VA, the south's 2nd capitol after Richmond was burned by the north.
