The 80 year old Jordan Bridge is in need of $4 million in repairs and may need to be closed. The bridge carries about 7,000 cars a day and is a demand only bridge. City officials aren't sure if they want to put money into the bridge because of more pressing highway needs like the Dominion Blvd widening. I can remember the last time it closed and the traffic on the highway seemed to be a lot slower and it took longer to get to Westchester Estates. It seems like more than 7,000 cars a day when it is closed.
