How to make a Home for the Holidays...

Every year my wife works on a fun project with the kids at our local school. She creates little gingerbread houses for them to decorate...

What she does is start with a milk carton and "hot glue" graham crackers to the sides.

Then she adds a ice cream cone (upside down) for a Christmas Tree....

We put these on a paper place that has foil over it and that's it!

Next we take them to our local school in Charlottesville and the whole class gets to decorate with candy, icing and anything else we can gather....

(this one got a little sloppy after the bus ride home!!!)

What fun!!!

Hi Santa Charles:

How cute is that....what a great idea...and yummy too, I'm sure!

What a cute idea!  Of course, I'd add a "For Sale" sign!

My kids are grown up and too old for that idea--- I keep telling them I need grandchildren. You've just given me one more reason for that--- to do great projects like this.

Your wife must be an angel.

Fess up.  The sloppy one is because you ate some of it on the drive home :-)

How creative Charles!

Your table reminds me of the one in my brother's house.  I stopped by yesterday to drop something off, and they had about 30 gingerbread houses baked and assembled, awaiting the arrival of little (and big) elves today for a gingerbread house workshop.  They have all the houses ready and make all the royal frosting (the kind that hardens up and holds everything together), and everyone who comes brings a bag of candy.  What a mess, but what fun!  I'll have to tell them your idea about graham crackers - think of the time it would save them.

Deliciously simple....though the glue may be a little hard on the bridgework and crowns...thanks for sharing !

It should definitely have your for sale sign on it. Happy holidays!

That is sooo creative and I bet the kids will remember that all of their lives.  Have a great holiday!

Charles, You and your wife are very creative, to say the least. Thanks for sharing!

Looks like lots of fun and it is a bit easier using the milk cartons.
