They just don't make jeans to fit me. A matter with which I've always struggled is that "off the rack" clothes rarely really fit. We just make do. What's the problem, you ask?? HA! If the waist fits, the hips do not. If the hips fit, the waist does not. Further, if the hips fit, the "straight leg jeans" are no longer straight, they are baggy.

WHAT'S THE SOLUTION? Get a sewing machine and alter the dang things! So, I did. However, although I sewed a lot many years ago, I haven't for years and it was like a new adventure. For one thing, the machines are far more versatile (COMPLICATED) than when I sewed years ago. Complicated is an understatement, but, we persevere and struggle through.

The sales associate, sewing expert extraordinaire demonstrated the machine, gave me a preliminary brush up on threading, bobbin loading, needle threading, etc.

THREADING THE NEEDLE. Did you know that needle holes are much smaller today than they used to be? Not a problem! The machine threads the needle for you.

THE CRITICAL INGREDIENT IS A GOOD, HELPFUL SALES ASSOCIATE TO DEMONSTRATE THE MACHINES.
