What a great turnout for the debut of Salsa Nights at the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg! After a successful demonstration of Salsa dancing at Liberty University's Multicultural Awards Banquet at the Holiday Inn Select,

the doors opened at 9pm for lessons in Salsa dancing at the Dance Theatre. This is a beautifully restored building on Commerce Street and I can't think of a better location, right next to The Mezzanine Cafe. It's refreshing to see these downtown businesses packed on a Friday night.
Salsa is a part of the cultural heritage of many countries and I think it's a wonderful skill that is being taught thanks to the leadership of Eddie Reyes. If I was ever going to feel comfortable with my daughter being out late on a weekend, it's on a Friday night. These gentlemen even walk her to her car. For more information on lessons, contact Salsa Nights.

Megan and Antonio along with many others will help teach you the basics of Salsa.
If you're a college student looking for a fun, wholesome activity, check out Salsa Nights now held at the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg, 722 Commerce Street. $3 in advance, $4 at the door. Parents, there are theatre seats for us to sit in and watch the lessons too. You may pick up a few moves!

This sounds like great fun! It looks like Megan and Antonio are enjoying themselves...Fabulous Dress too!
Thanks Ruthmarie, Megan is on cloud nine! Got to love Ross, they have fabulous dresses for around $20.00!
Debbie - How cool is that? Looks like they are having a great time. Oh Ross, yes gotta love them!! I think that it is events like this that is really missing in today's world for young adults. I am glad to see it taking place.
You know that I agree with Brande's comment 100% If there were more organized activities for the youth, I really believe there would be less violence, drug use, and crime in general. You know the old saying about idle hands! BTW, when are the senior citizen Salsa lessons and dances? That might be just as fun to watch! <<<smile>>>
Looks like a fun event. I wish they had such events for the youth in our arae.
Brande, you are exactly right. This event involves no alcohol, no 'dirty' dancing, but it draws an incredible crowd and I'm glad we have an outlet like this in Lynchburg. Thanks for commenting.
Rich, this is so true- we need more organized activities for the youth of our cities. It's when kids are bored that they get into trouble and this is great exercise at the same time.
LOL! I'll have to check to see if they offer 'senior moments'; I wouldn't want to mortify my daughter by dancing!
Debbie the only salsa I really like..goes on my chips!:)
Gita, with the popularity of Dancing With The Stars, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more organized events popping up. This all started from Eddie wanting to connect with his heritage. Thanks for your input.
LOL! BLR Guy, you are too funny! I'll save you a theatre seat and order the nachos!
Dancing at Liberty? What's the world coming too?...just kidding!
Rich, Believe me, we want to make the distinction between lessons and dancing. Social dancing is still not allowed at LU.
Sounds like terrific fun. And doesn't cost much either!
Penny, these college kids don't have much money to begin with and what a great night they have! We really enjoyed the competition and the place was packed with kids. It's so nice to have a great activity where you can learn a social skill in our little town!
