The 18 mile long Mount Vernon,Trail starts at Theodore Roosevelt Island and terminates at the Washington Estate at Mount Vernon. It is very popular and heavily travelled by cyclists, joggers and hikers.
You will pass Arlington National Cemetery, Reagan National Airtport, tour through Old Town Alexandria and along the Potomac River to Mount Vernon. The views of the Washington monuments are spectacular.
It is one of the trails we have enjoyed over the years, especially in the Fall and Spring when both the weather and foliage are spectacular. Also see PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY BIKE PATHS.

Karen, I love the Mount Vernon bike trail and have biked the whole way, as well as ran the whole thing while I was training for the Marines Corps Marathon in 2004. You can't beat the scenery along this trail.
Brian, Arthur and I have biked it, but have never run it - our running is limited to a treadmill at Gold's Gym Karen
Karen,
That is a beautiful picture and a great trail. Many years ago I used to live in Rossyln right over the Key Bridge and really really loved the area. I miss it sometimes.
Chris
Karen, it actually hooks up with the trails in Rock Creek Park - you can pretty easily get from my house to Mt Vernon - if you're in decent shape, that is!
Chris and Stephanie Thank you - it is a very scenic trail - it is the kind of place you can miss very easily, Karen
Patricia I hear you - it isn't as easy to do as it was 10 years ago, Karen
