Many of you know I have a couple of dogs and one is a Border Collie. I love dogs and I am amazed at how smart they are.
On Oct 4-5 at Montpelier (Orange County, Virginia) is the:
Fall Fiber Festival & Montpelier Sheep Dog Trials!
This event shows off weavers, spinners, artisans and crafters! There are several breeds of sheep and goats. But the fun to me is when the "border collies" show off their herding skills!
Come by for the fun, if you see me please stop by and say hello!
Montpelier is the home of James and Dolly Madison and is so large an estate; there is a race track in the front yard!!!

You can also take a tour of Montpelier with its fine elegant furnishings. There has been a major remodel of this fine Estate and I for one want to see it! The garden tour is a must see!
Open 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday
See http://www.fallfiberfestival.org/
While in the area, call me to see some of Virginia's fine properties. Here is a c1820 Farm just around the corner!

What a pefect time of year for such a great event. The skill of sheepdogs is such a pleasure to watch.
Ellie - sure is!!!
Very cool...people don't give animals enough credit...some of what appears to be "common sense" traits are just what every PERSON needs....
Sally and David - So true (what a coincident, I have clients named Sally and David)
Sheep dog trials. I have never been to one, but would love to go, sounds really interesting. I have always wondered how you make these dogs watch and keep the herd together" instead of just having fun with them and chasing them. . . . . ?
My wife goes to our fiber fest every year and is amazed at the border collies as they work the sheep. She has fallen in love with the Alpacas she always comments on the eyes.
That looks like it will be so much fun! (I'm a doggie lover. Can't get enough of those wonderful personalities!)
I have been there and taken the tour! Being a former high school history instructor, it was something I could NOT miss!
