New Changes in the Seller Disclosure and Disclaimer Law

The Virginia General Assembly adopted a number of revisions to state laws related to property disclosure issues that took effect on July 1, 2007. One of the bills requires a revision to the Virginia Residential Property Disclosure Statement and Virginia Residential Property Disclaimer Statement. The change requires a property owner to give notice to a purchaser that there are no pending violations of any local zoning ordinances that the owner has not abated or remedied. Effective 12/31/07, the Virginia Residential Disclosure and Disclaimer Statement will be consolidated into one form.
