Madison County, Virginia
I would be interested to hear from agents who live or work in Madison, VA. Madison is the area just beyond Culpeper, which is already thought to be "far out" by us city folk in the DC/Metro area. Madison (and Culpeper) by the way are quite beautiful. Vast, green expanses still untouched by development offer a nice escape for those in search of hiking, horse racing and polo, fishing, or my favorite recent past time: touring vinyards.
Yes, I used to be more of snob when it came to wine, preferring California, but Virginia seems to have gotten its act together and has been brewing up some really good stuff!
A long hour, plus maybe a half, plus whatever traffic the I-66 construction crews decided to generate and you have arrived at place where property values are still affordable. Nice homes here go for what they probably ought to go for; whereas in ugly Annandale you pay triple just for the convenience of being 15 minutes from anything in any direction (by the way, I love Annandale, but it looks nothing like Madison).
So, my question is, what is going to happen when more and more people find out about it? Are folks moving there now? What about the Charlottesville people--are they headed there too from the other side? How much longer do I get to enjoy it as it is?
There, I said "question," but that's a few...
