If you are not familiar with The Birchmere in Alexandria then you may want to check it out. Here is a link to the web page

I was there on Thursday and saw an artist I had followed in the 80s. Last time I saw her was at a much larger venue in NYC. The Birchmere made for a much more intimate experience plus you can get dinner (good not great). I saw a group called the SubDudes last month. Excellent show. Next month you can see Aaron Neville or Southside Johnny and Asbury Jukes among others. You have to be willing to share a table with strangers (there are a few tables for two) and most shows are open seating so if you want to be close to the stage get there early. However there are really no bad seats. My only complaint is that you cannot get a glass of water. If you want water you have to order and pay for a bottle. As you may know, I'm not a big fan of plastic, and paying for bottled water irks me a bit. Other then that, it's awesome. Check it out.
