Parks of Arlington VA - Potomac Overlook Park

For those of you who like to walk, there are many great parks to explore in Arlington, Virginia. The weather was georgous on Sunday, so I decided to take a walk at one of my favorite places, Potomac Overlook Park (map).

This is one of the best kept secrets in Arlington, VA. The park is surrounded by residential neighborhoods, such as Bellevue Forest, and most of the people who walk there are local residents. My daughter gets a credit for introducing me to this park. She took a wonderful nature camp there a few years ago, and since then we have been visiting Potomac Overlook Park regularly.

Potomac Overlook provides a variety of events and programs for all ages. Among everyone favorite events are Summer Concerts, Canoe Trips, and informal Sunday event called "Meet Me on Sunday!". Every Sunday afternoon, between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., the park provides refreshments, games and hands-on nature exhibits. This is a fun place to meet and hang out when the weather is nice.

Make sure you stop by the Visitor Center during your visit to the park. This is one of the favorite places for kids to visit, including educational exhibits and featuring live snakes, turtles and fish.

And if you are looking for something fun to do on weekends, make sure you attend the annual event: 26th Annual Open House & Heritage Festival, Potomac Overlook - 2845 N. Marcey Road Arlington, VA 22207. Sunday, May 1, 1pm - 4pm.

This is a wonderful springtime tradition full of fun activities and exhibits for all ages! The festivities will include music, entertainment, food, community exhibits, games, a maypole dance, and much more! Have fun visiting this beautiful park.

The signs of Spring are everywhere around Potomac Overlook.

If you get tired, take a break at one of the serene resting places.
