Pro Bass Shop - Great Dining Experience
Today my husband and I decided to close up shop early and take the kids to Kings Dominion in the late afternoon for some fun and sun. After working very hard to get our work done this morning, we headed off and had a BLAST at the amusement park. When it came time for dinner, we checked out the park food but decided it was just too pricey for a ho-hum meal. So, we left and ventured down the road...
My husband mentioned the restaurant at Bass Pro Shops. Having never been there, I didn't think this was a great idea. I mean, the idea of eating in fishing store seemed rather weird to me. But, hubby reassured me that the last time he took the kids there he checked out the restaurant and it looked pretty good. I was hungry so I agreed.
Pretty good? The food was GREAT! The restauraunt is Islamorade Fish Company, which I believe is one of a fairly large chain. From the moment we entered, I was immediately impressed. This wasn't some hole-in-the-wall eatery. (Even though I often LOVE those kinds of places) No, this place was instantly inviting with a warm ambiance and beautiful fish tank highlighting the bar. Seeing that it was a beautiful day, we decided to eat outside on their deck. Just lovely!
I KNEW I was in for a good meal when the waitress brought out some fabulous bread that was topped with sugar! My son dove in and it was hard to get him to stop eating this donut in a bread costume. The kids ordered some sliders off of the kids menu, my hubby chose the fish n chips, and I selected the rotisserie chicken with baked potato. The food took a little longer than I liked, but then again any amount of time is too much when you are starving. When our meals arrived, I was very impressed! My chicken was excellent...so much so that my husband kept asking for bites. (Usually a good sign) Not only was it delicious, but it was not pricey at all at under $10 for the entree!
After dinner my children gave me a tour of the actual store. They ushered me past the fish tanks, took me to visit a stuffed bear, and showed me everything from four wheelers to fishing rods. I have to say, Bass Pro Shops really knows how to reach their demographic while making those who may not be their target audience comfortable.
So, if you have never been, I highly recommend the Islamorade Fish Company. Matter of fact, I even mentioned that I could see us having a date night there, lol! You know the saying: you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
