Every day Central Virginia requires large amounts of blood for emergency services!

Area hospitals have issues keeping up with the demand, that is where the American Red Cross steps in to help. Appalachian Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross travels throughout the area with their mobile blood mobiles to collect blood from donors all over Central and Southwest Virginia, often multiple blood drives are going on at the same time in different places. There are also four locations, Lynchburg VA, Beckley VA., Blacksburg and in downtown Roanoke.

When you donate blood, you never know who's life you could be saving, maybe even your own! Accidents happen, people get suddenly sick. From time to time, we have terrible blood shortages that could cost someone a life, prevent someone from having needed surgery, or create other problems.

Donating is easy and doesn't take long. Just go to the blood mobile or to one of the donation centers. They give you a short interview, to make sure your in good health and to be sure your blood is use able. You sit in a lounge chair while a nurse takes the blood. it only takes a few minutes and the nurses are great!
