Death of a Teenage Driver

This story could be about any teen driver, anywhere in the world.  We've all been touched by tragedy and none more painful than the senseless death of a teen in the prime of his life with the world at his fingertips.

I recently had an experience where our neighbors' teenage boys lost a best friend on the road to where I live.  He was almost 18, days away from starting his senior year in high school, and getting ready for all the future had in store for him.

My heart sank when I found out I knew this boy...I had taken him out with my neighbors' son to shop for lumber supplies for their Eagle Scout project just the week before.  He talked about plans to go to VMI, about high school, and playing sports in school.  He was sweet, quiet, and respectful.

I rest knowing he's in a better place but I'm saddened by the grief his family and friends are going through.  In time, the wounds will heal.  But the message needs to go on....
