Hardwood in Northern Virginia Bedrooms Not

The buyer was a flooring installation expert. Having just purchased a trashed townhome in a low income area one of his first decisions was to install hardwood flooring throughout the two-level townhome (except the bathrooms)!
Besides costing more than carpet and pad this flooring choice may actually have made the home less attractive to the majority of potential renters and/or buyers.
In the cold-winter Northern Virginia climate most buyers prefer carpeted bedrooms. Hardwood floors are too cold for bare feet in sleeping areas! So the buyers end up having to put in area rugs in hardwood-floored bedrooms.
Hardwood is classy, and it gleams. It is generally not preferred by tenants of buyers in bedroom areas, unless they have respiratory issues requiring hard surface floors everywhere.
