Good eats in Richmond

On December 16 we wrote a blog titled "Get out of the kitchen & Enjoy your family!!!". It was a tongue in cheek piece telling folks to enjoy their family and giving some great restaurant picks in the local Richmond area that Lynda and I have enjoyed over the years. One of our picks was a new place called Lulu's that a friend of ours, Steve Jurina, recently opened. We've been hitting all of our friends over the head about the great the food, reasonably pricing and over all just plain coolness of this place. Well apparently the reviewer for the Richmond Times Dispatch agrees with us (remember, we said it first...) and awarded Steve and the whole crew with 4 stars! I say the whole crew because there is no way even a great chef can do it alone; it takes lots of teamwork and Dana Craig (the RTD food critic) gave credit where credit was due. Everyone we've met who works with Steve genuinely believes in Lulu's and relishes their part in its success. Don't be afraid to ask the staff for their favorites, they'll tell you and give you reasons why. I've always found that the people who have access to the kitchen know the best dishes on the menu. So next time you feel like a bite, head down to Lulu's, ask Mark Walsh (the friendly bartender) for some great advice on your wine / entrée pairing and please remember to tell Steve "hey" for us.
