Since I got interviewed a week ago by CBS News, I've been highly anticipating watching the segment on national t.v. which kept getting pushed back. I watched The Early Show on CBS every day this past week. Well, today, I finally made my debut. The story about foreclosures and foreclosure bus tours aired this morning.
In case you missed it, here's a quick recap:
From Blog to Newspaper to National TV in Just One Month! (UPDATED)
CBS News Segment to Air Tuesday NOT MONDAY
I'm Sorry I Woke You Up -- Okay, One More Time
Bright and Early on Saturday Morning: Brian Block will be on CBS National News
Frankly, I was tired of writing blog posts about the CBS Early Show and have been wanting to get back to writing quality, timely, and relevant information about our Northern Virginia real estate market, as usual.
Luckily, I didn't blink while watching this early morning segment. If I had, I might have missed my on-air appearance -- ALL 8 SECONDS OF IT! My 20 minutes of interview and footage was condensed into one 8 second sentence. Oh well, at least they spelled my name correctly. It would have been nice to also include the fact that I'm a real estate broker in Virginia so people watching the show would know where I was located. Though, it was nice to be dubbed "an expert" by a national news program.
Below is a video clip of today's segment. I make my appearance at about the 2 minute 20 second mark. (Sorry about the 15 second opening commercial -- I couldn't do anything about that!)
In the meantime until my next national t.v. interview, if you haven't yet viewed it, I appear for almost a full 3 minutes in my recently produced video:

Well. Now I have to try to get some speakers to work. I'll be back.
Congrats on the air time...hope you get some clients from it!
Ahhh. I did see it all! Turned on the TV just in the nick of time. Good thing, since I forgot to Tivo it! Congrats, Brian - who knows, there could be more opporunities like this in your future now that they know you're an "expert". Congrats again!
Interesting video. I have to say in Michigan you CAN SEE THE HOME BEFORE YOU BUY IT. Strange that the video says people do not get to see the homes before they purchase. Maybe that would happen with auctions in some states but you can preview a home even when it is sold at auction in Ann Arbor area.
Oh but your part was great and your name was very clear! Congrats Brian.
Congratulations Brian. Who else can say they got 8 seconds of national airtime? People who watched the show may remember you from it. Cant beat that.
Brian, you looked great! Fine job!
Brian, I have to agree with Duane, you looked great and you sounded like the pro you are! Too bad, people in Texas are probably trying to find you!
Karen, in this area of Virginia, it is difficult to get into the home while in the foreclosure process. Once it's bank owned, and then listed with a local brokerage, it's easy to get into the home and view it.
Great clip! You so remind me of George Washington and I can't figure out why. hummm
kk
HEY Congratulations!!!! Can I have your autograph? How cool!
Geeze, talk about high profile exposure. Congrats on the CBS interview Brian, I'm glad it finally got on air! Have a great weekend...
Brian, congratulation! I haven't been on CBS Morning News since 1972! And that was about airline overcharging and not houses, so it doesn't count for real estate stuff. Do you have a link to their broadcast? And it is amazing house they edit everything down to the bare basics!
Congratulations!
Congrats Brian....it was a good eight seconds. Not too many people can say they were on national TV.
Brian Block, I saw you! I saw your name spelled correctly! Great eight seconds!!
Brian-Awesome! I think 8 seconds is 8 seconds after all that is all the local expert needs right? Besides big shots like you sell houses to the likes of George Washington! :) Just remember I knew you before the debut!
Hey I agree 8 seconds is 8 seconds... not many agents can say they've been a featured expert on TV.
::::clappin::::
Brian congratulations on your tv break. And you've gotten alot further than most. You did great. Can I have your autograph. I'll go to the back of the line.
Brian, I missed it live. Congrats! I wish you would have had more time.
Brian, Congratulations on your debut as a TV expert! Elizabeth
Congratulations! All of us here on the Rain can say we knew you "back when."
Looking forward to more of your expert posts - and we'll be waiting for your next TV appearance.
Brian - Congrats on being on national TV, even if it was a brief appearance. They spelled your name correctly, but not the name of your company. Have they never heard of the Pledge of Allegiance?
Jason - You are very detail oriented. They spelled Allegiance wrong. But who cares. You was on National TV. And they spelled your name right. You know this is going to lead to major exposure for you as a real estate expert.Congratulations. Great post.
Hi Bran. Congrats. You have been discovered!
Ken
Congratulations Brian. So, now will you have a little icon on your web site, As Seen on the CBS Early Show?
Brian, Congratulations!! If I were you I would be locking for a good referral agent in Texas to feed all the inquiries you will be getting.
Congratulations. I will watch the clip. Hope you can use it in your marketing and get some clients from it.
Way to go Brian, you'll still associate with us won't you?
Eight seconds is actually a great deal- they even made a movie about it. But I didn't see the part, in this one, where you rode the bull. :-)
Brian, 8 seconds of fame on National News? Priceless. Congratulations. AJ
Brian, Eight seconds of national exposure is a good thing, Congratulations!
Brian,
I actually caught it live...it's unfortunate the way they cover the news so 'byte' sized...I was interviewed by a journalist doing a story...the interview took about twenty five minutes... the quote in the article was about two lines...and of her choice, not mine!!! Thanks, Fran
P.S. BTW, tell CBS to use 'spell check'!!!
Hey....eight seconds is eight seconds...more than what we got lol! Seriously, you did a great job and if they had used it all....I know it would have been absolutely informational and with a little Brian Block wit :) Good job buddy!
SUPER and congratulations!!!!
Eight seconds or not, I'm impressed Bro. Next time I'll give you a check beforehand to give me some 'unwarranted' props on National T.V.:-)
Be proud Brian- that is cool... congrats.
Brian, great clip with your comments. I actually know of Tess here locally with Weichert who does that bus tour. The video was very good pointing out that buying foreclosures is complex and more than meets the eye. Oftentimes the prices aren't even that good either. I'm glad they got your comments in there.
Although your air time was short, you did a great job and educated buyers about these types of properties entailing extra paperwork and being more time consuming which many people do not understand. That is really neat you got air time! Congrats.
LENN: Thanks for stopping by. Did you ever get some working speakers and a chance to watch.
CREE: Thanks for your comment and congrats. It was great to be on the tube.
MARGARET: I'm glad you had a chance to watch. Hopefully this is just the first of many future opportunities.
KAREN: Thanks for stopping by and watching. I appreciate your comment.
ULISES: Thanks for your comment. I was thrilled to be asked for this interview and know that only good things can come from it.
DUANE: Thanks for the high five!
NATALIE: Thanks for your comment. Well, I haven't gotten any calls from Texas yet.
KRISTAL: Thanks for your comment. Funny!
SHANNON: Thanks. I'd be happy to send you an autograph. Anytime.
MARTI: I"m glad it finally aired too after a week of anticipation.
PATRICIA: Thanks for your comment. It was great to finally make it on to national t.v. You can play the clip right here inside the post. If not, I can send you a link.
ROCIO: Thanks!
TREVOR: Glad you caught it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
NAOMA: Thanks for your comment. I haven't planned any foreclosure tours yet, but I have heard of a few in this area.
MARGARET R.: Thanks for your comment and for watching.
MIDORI: Yes, you did know me before I made it big. Ha ha. Thanks for your comment.
DESIREE: Taking my bow. Thanks for the round of applause.
BOB: Thanks for your comments. Get my autograph while they're still free...
JO: I wish I had more time too. The questions they asked the woman in the studio were the same questions they asked me on camera and I think I answered them just as well. Oh well... I'm happy for what I got.
ELIZABETH: Thanks for your comment and congrats. I'm catching up to my wife. She's got lots of press coverage.
DEBBIE: Thanks for your compliments. I hope to be back on t.v. sooner rather than later.
JASON: I noticed that too, but didn't want to point it out. I even had spelled it out for them on camera right at the beginning of the interview. They said that they do that for purposes of making the on screen titles. I guess some intern slipped up.
LANRE: Thanks for your comment and congratulations!
KEN: Thanks for your comment. Discovered -- wow!
STEVE: I'm thinking about it.
SCOTT: I know, funny, huh?
GITA: Thanks. I'll certainly try. Certainly can't hurt.
BOB: I'll still associate with everyone...
CHUCK: No bull here! But I have ridden a mechanical bull once in Wichita, Kansas.
AJ: Thanks for your comment and congrats!
DEBBIE: Definitely a good thing! Thanks!
FRAN: Glad you caught it live on T.V. I also saw it on television live -- somehow that's more thrilling than watching it on the laptop. CBS could benefit from spell check...
SALLY: Thanks for your comment. Hopefully next time it will be longer. And, you never know, they could always use some more pieces of the taped interview in another segment, perhaps?
BARBARA JO: Thanks a bunch!
Good for you Brian. You may become the local "go to" expert.
JASON: Thanks, my friend. My Mom and wife already got you beat for shout-outs on t.v. You can be third in line, depending upon the size of the check.
KIM: Thanks for your words of encouragement.
GARY: I'm glad they got me into the segment as well. I thought that the overall message of the piece was right on. It didn't present doom and gloom as so much media about the market does these days.
PATRICIA: Thanks for your comment and compliments. I really appreciate it.
WAYNE: Thanks for your comment. I hope so.
Hi Brian - You look different on TV - confess - did they do your hair and make-up? Lol... just kidding - I'm sure even a few minutes of free press will help your future business! Congrats - all you're hard work and efforts are paying off!
Sincerely,
Grace
GRACE: No hair and makeup, but I did take off my glasses. My wife would not have liked me wearing my glasses on national t.v. Thanks for watching, commenting and for the congrats!
Fabulous Brian! I just read about this! Great job on your 8 seconds of fame!
Yipes - your video - starts off w/Plano, TX. That's where I'm from. Very interesting though.
^5 to you Brian! We need to educate our consumers!!
Jennifer :)
Congratulations on making it onto national television. I hope you can reap some benefits from this. Who knows, they may invite you back for another segment. You got your foot in the door now kick it open!!
TRACY: Thanks for your comments. I appreciate you reading about my 8 seconds of fame.
JENNIFER: Thanks for stopping by. If we don't educate the public, who will?
ROB: Thanks for the congratulations. Yes, you never know what this may lead to in the future.
