February's Most Expensive Sales

Are you wondering about Northern Virginia real estate and pondering what has sold recently?

Here's some information about the most expensive home sales in Northern Virginia (Arlington County, Alexandria City, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, and Falls Church City) for February 2009. All information was obtained through MRIS.

Overall, there were 26 sales topping $1 million during the month of February 2009, just slightly more than the number that sold in January.

FEBRUARY'S MOST EXPENSIVE SALES

Single Family Detached Homes:

• 1605 Crestwood Lane, McLean, VA 22101 -- Sold on Feburary 25th for $2,502,904.
  This brand new home in McLean features 5 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms on 3 levels and over half an acre near Chesterbrook Woods.
  
  
• 1323 Calder Road, McLean, VA 22101 -- Sold on February 12th for $1,975,000.
  Built in 2004, this large colonial features 3 fireplaces, 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms! Total living space of 8000 square feet.
  
  
• 721 Ellsworth Avenue, Great Falls, VA 22066 -- Sold on February 26th for $1,921,000.
  Just completed, this French Provincial style home offers over 8000 square feet of living area on over a half acre wooded lot. The home is just minutes away from Great Falls town village.
  
  
• 891 Chinquapin Road, McLean, VA 22102 -- Sold on February 20th for $1,900,000.
  With 2 acres and lots of space, this McLean home features a ppol, spa, and a 3 car garage. It was built in 1998 and features over 8400 square feet of living area.
  
• 203 Carrwood Road, Great Falls, VA 22066 -- Sold on February 12th for $1,800,000.
  Sited on almost 6 acres of land with mature trees, woodland, and country estate view, this Great Falls home backs to a regional park along the Potomac River. The home was there was built in 1984 and it's likely the new owner will build tear down and build a new mansion.

Half the homes sold in February in this luxury price range were either in McLean or Great Falls.
