One of my favorite Spring traditions in the Washington D.C. area is the Smithsonian Kite Festival on the National Mall. Picture hundreds of kites flying simultaneously against a (hopefully) bright blue sky. It is a sure way to celebrate the beginning of Spring!
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, Saturday, March 21, and want to prepare your family for next weekend's Kite Festival , the Kites of Asia Family Day is tomorrow at the National Air and Space Museum's National Mall Building. The events are free and include lessons on how to fly kites, indoor kite-flying demonstrations, danceperformances , displays and a story hour. The event runs from 10 to 3 with performances of the Washington Korean Dance Company at 11 am and 1 pm.
This year the Smithsonian Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 10 am to 4 pm. This event is part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and is one of the opening day events.

Take the family to Kites of Asia Family Day and build a kite to be entered in the Smithsonian Kite Festival next weekend!
