Sales for Charlottesville/Albemarle in the first half of March are off to a torrid pace, with 63 sales month-to-date. According to data from the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors (CAAR), sales in Albemarle County and the city of Charlottesville in the first 18 days of March ‘09 increased by 19% compared to the first 18 days of the previous month. This data includes contingent, pending and sold contracts.
"First time homebuyers are starting to realize the great opportunity that exists in today's real estate market," says Jeff Gaffney, Chairman and CEO of Real Estate III. "When you combine low interest rates, low pricing, great inventory availability and the First Time Homebuyers Tax Credit, this real estate market presents a 'once in a generational opportunity.'"
