"And Remember, If This Call Is After 6:00 P.M., It Will Be Returned The Next Business Day"! Is This Looking Out For Your Clients?

"It is a wonderful day to buy real estate. And remember, if this call is after 6:00 P.M. it will be returned the following business day!" If you are a Realtor and your voicemail says this, please don't get mad at me for not understanding, I am just trying to figure it out. I could never put that message on my voicemail and if it is on yours then you are obviously doing a lot better in this market than most Realtors including myself.

Here's how I see it. Most people searching for a home have a job. Most people that have jobs don't get home, kiss the spouse and kids, use the bathroom and sit down at the computer until at least 6:00(I know some of them work at a computer, but let's face it, most people can't sit back and look at real estate all day without getting fired). Now, if they don't sit down and start looking at real estate until 6:00 and your message says you don't return calls after 6:00, how on earth are you doing your job correctly?

If I was a seller in this market and my listing agent's phone had that message on it, they would be fired. How could you possibly be looking out for the best interests of you seller and not returning calls from other agents or buyers that are trying to see their home? If you do the right thing and tell your sellers this before they sign the listing agreement and they still list with you, I think they may have bumped their heads or they are about as serious as you are on selling their home.

This is just something I am trying to figure out and I am not trying to offend anyone.
