Rustburg, Virginia: The County Seat of Campbell County

Campbell County is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and covers 511 square miles. With a population of more than 50,000, Campbell County is included in the Lynchburg Metropolitan Statistical Area and borders Lynchburg to the north, the Town of Altavista in the southwest, the Town of Brookneal in the southeast and the Staunton River to the south. Campbell County is located 115 miles west of Richmond, Virginia.

Rustburg was established as the county seat when Jeremiah Rust donated fifty acres of land in 1784 for the first courthouse in the village.
