Roaming Lake Anna Roads...What Might You See?

Roaming Lake Anna Roads...what might you see? Well, I never know what I'll see! The other day I was on my way to the office. As I drove along I passed a spot I've driven by hundreds thousands of times. The folks living on this property have sheep, goats, chickens, dogs, and who knows what else. There's a pond close to the road so there are generally some animals fairly close to the road, although fenced in.

On this particular day I was driving along and as I passed by, out of the corner of my eye I saw a goat very close to the wire fence. As I drove it registered with me that the goat was a little to close to the fence. In fact it registered that perhaps that goat was a little too close to the fence. I pulled into the next driveway and turned around.

As I got close I realized that I was right. That goat was way too close, in fact its head was sticking through the fence and it was caught. I quickly lowered my car window and snapped this shot.

Well, I'm not very good at rescuing goats and I was not about to see if I could get his head, with those horns, back where it belonged...on the other side of the fence with the rest of his body. Up the driveway I went only to be greated by a big, black dog that did not want me there. The dog, some sheep, plus a couple dozen hens and roosters surrounding my car got me blowing my horn.

Fortunately someone was home. A woman came out and I told her about her goat. I got a nice thank-you as she told me she would take care of her goat.

Without my even admitting it, you can see that I took time to photograph this poor thing before going for help. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the photo I had taken that I realized I should have taken another one, from the side. Then you would have seen exactly how trapped that poor animal was and it was better that I only made it suffer through one shot.

I'll be posting other sights that I've photographed as I roam the roads of Lake Anna. I love my neighborhood and I truly feel as though all of it is my neighborhood.
