If it Hasn't Happened to You Yet, it Will!

That's exactly right, if it hasn't happened to you yet just wait...it will. I'm thrilled to tell you I have just received my first direct contact from a consumer through Active Rain.umbrella and rain

I received an e-mail today from someone that has a vacation/second home here at Lake Anna. She and her husband would like to meet with me next Monday evening to discuss listing their home.

Previously, I had another agent on the Rain contact me regarding a referral (which didn't pan out as my suggested list price was too low) have any of you had that reaction from a homeowner???

Believe me, I would continue to spend time in the Rain even if I never received one single contact through it. I have received so much already, but it is nice to see that this is an added benefit.

Thank you Active Rain and all my fellow Rainers. Without all of you this dynamite site would not exist. Getting to know even just a small number of you has been a very rewarding experience. It's funny that if someone goes missing for a few weeks (I do that for days at a time) I miss them and wonder what happened. I only wish I had more time to spend here.

cheersWhen I first joined the Rain I had a bit more time and had a lot of fun reading, writing, and commenting. Now I have been busier (it always slows down around November and heats up again late winter/early spring) there is not as much time to play in the Rain.

I'm looking at all the raindrops in the graphic and it reminds me of all my Raindrops here on the Rain. You have added another measure of happiness to my life. Thank you all.

Cheers to all the Raindrops I have come to know and enjoy here on the Rain. I appreciate all of you and am so happy we have this forum to learn so much, to get to know others, to share our ups and downs, and to post our thoughts and photos. What more could we ask for...I cannot think of a thing!

May the Rain continue forever and ever!

Kathleen,

Thank you for sharing!!  That is very exciting.  I know I am learning alot from the other boggers and share your excitment regarding AR.

Kathleen ~ That's wonderful!  I'm sure you are feeling the same way I am about my contact!  And being busy - well, that's the whole point of this thing called blogging, right?  Congrats!

Deb...As I said, if it hasn't happened yet, it will.  It is so easy to enthusiastic about the Rain.  I just wish I had more time to stay here.

Thanks for your comment.

Kathleen- you have just experienced what so many of us say over and over.....peole do read our Blogs.  I hope that the people that contacted you understand pricing is a big part of the success of the listing, and it all works out for you :) :)

Kathy...I was so happy for you too.  When I saw your post I decided to write mine.  I'm glad we can celebrate together.

Cheers to you and me!

Kathleen

Congrats Kathleen!  I love this site and hope to have success like you do!  Nothing better than having apotential clietn call in out of the blue! :)

Congratulation Kathleen!  I look forward to the day that I can post about my leads coming in from the Rain.

I have turned so many people on to AR..who don't get the benefit.....but you are right..it's pretty cool..

Kathleen, I can HEAR your excitement in your post!  I have had contacts through AR as well....many, in fact but if I didn't I'd be on here anyway also; it truly is a wonderful place.  Good luck!

Kathleen,
It is such a great feeling to get that first one, isn't it?  Congratulations and here's to many, many more!

That's great news Kathleen, it's always nice to see tangible results from the Rain, congrats!

(04/09/08 09:06PM) — Steven Odierno

Hi Kathleen - Congratulations.  That is quite an accomplishment and also quite encouraging.  I have not yet had contact from a client as a result of AR, but I agree with you, I enjoy AR and learn so much from it that client acquisition seems like an added bonus.

Congratulations, Kathleen - That is GREAT.  Here's to receiving many more!

(((clap, clap, clap))) Yea, great news, Kathleen.

Great News Kathleen, Congrats!!!

Casey...I think it happens sooner for some than for others but eventually I believe it will happen for all of us.  It's been 6-7 months for me now and others have received a contact much sooner but it is such a treat to be on the Rain that the rest is secondary.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Bob ...I'm looking forward to reading your post telling us the good news!

Take care,

Kathleen

Konnie ...Perhaps one day they will realize what they are missing.  The important thing is you have discovered the Rain and that's great.

Kathleen

Carole ...Your comment will encourage everyone that reads it.  Fortunately so many of us understand the many different benefits to the Rain.

Take care,

Kathleen

P.S.  Yes, I was/am excited.  It's as though someone has given you their Seal of Approval.

Cynthia...It's largely due to you and others that have taken me under their wing and brought me into the fold.  If we posted in a vacumn sooner or later we would probably stop.

I owe you many thanks.

Kathleen

Marti...Thank you.  It was a very happy moment when I saw that e-mail.  What a treat.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Steven...It is a bonus and one that I seldom think about.  When I would read someone's post about getting comments I would think about it briefly, but as you said, we receive so much from the Rain that it is just another perk.

Thanks for commenting.

Kathleen

Jesse & Kathy ...The next one may take even longer but that's OK.  I'm here to stay.

Thanks,

Kathleen

Missy ...So that was the wonderful sound I heard this morning as I was waking up, your clapping.  How great!

Thanks to you and all my other Raindrops.

Kathleen

Shannon ...Welcome to the Rain and thank you for taking the time to read my post and commenting.

Enjoy the Rain and take full advantage of all you will learn here and the friendships you will make.

Kathleen

Kathleen ~ Just wanted to stop back in and congratulate you on your Featured star!

Way to go!!!  As a newcomer to the Rain the immediate impact to my business is all of the valuable thing that I am learning on this site.  If course I hope to get buyer or seller contacts as well.

And of course the icing on the cake is all the great people that I am getting to know.  Everyone is so good about paying it forward!

Kathleen, that's great news! Blogging does work and it's nice to see others succeeding as well. Best of luck to you!

Good for you, and more to come I am sure!!  Thanks for your post, makes me want to get back to postin' (it's been a while)  :)

I received my first contact about two weeks ago. Its nice to know AR works. Do you think we should continue to share AR with other realtors?  LOL

Yay Kathleen!  It's a bonus to get that kind feedback for your time spent on ActiveRain...because the community spirit here is vey rewarding!  Congratulations on connecting so well with the public too!

Colleen...Yes, blogging works and it's such fun too.

Thanks for commenting.

Kathleen

Richard...Congratulations on your contact!  What a bonus!

I've talked to other agents about the Rain.  Now that I've received a contact they will become interested.

Here's to many future contacts for all of us!

Kathleen

Thank you for sharing...its very encouraging to new bloggers like myself to hear that blogging does work and get you business.

The blogging does work,  keep it up.

Kathleen,

I'll keep holding hope that the Rain will fall on me!

Kathleen, I have lost several listings due to price. I am watching them though. The first time it happened to me, I watched as the couple went through 3 agents in 2 years and still didn't sell and couldn't even get it rented. It's sad!

Deborah ...I really appreciate your comment.  Thank you so much.

Take care,

Kathleen

Sonja...Oh please never give up.  It took a few months for me, although I'm sure others have had quicker results (I live in a rural resort area) but you gain so much just from being on the Rain that it makes it so worthwhile even without the client contacts...although they are wonderful too.

Keep on posting!

Kathleen

Robert...I would stay on the Rain even if I never received a client because of it.  I believe we have gained so much by having a place like this to gather.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Kathleen

Michelle...I am sure there is a cloud full of ran coming your way.  I had stopped thinking of contacts and then one appeared.  It may be a long time before there is another but that will be OK with me.  It is just one benefit of being on the Rain.

Keep the Rain faith.

Kathleen

That is great. I have also learned so much from just reading blogs and interacting with so many professional real estate people.

Christy ...Sometimes we do lose out because we do suggest a lower price for a listing than some other agents but that's not so bad.  I even told someone that if I took the listing all that would happen is that I would be spending money on advertising and tht he would be upset with me because the house still didn't sell.

Have you gone back to any of the people that haven't sold as yet to see if they will be more reasonable now?

Take care,

Kathleen

Kevin...Isn't it something to think that there are so many agents and other real estate related folks offering so much help.

Thanks for coming by and commenting.

Kathleen

Congrats!!!  I can't wait for it to happen to me.

Congratulations on your hard work, effort and determination!  And that's the way it is...woohoo to you!

Katherine, I am so excited for you.  I love it when I hear someone gets business from blogging, and I love being involved in here.  It is a win win for all of us!  Congratulations and I wish you many more clients.

(04/10/08 06:02PM) — Joe Virnig, "No Ordinary Joe"

My turn next!

Thanks for sharing your success with us. I'm still waiting on that first one, but have found the information on AR well worth the wait.

I have been receiving phone calls and emails from random people wanting to buy and sell.  I ask them all where they have found me and they either "don't know", "don't remember" or just remember that it was on the internet.  It must be blogging, eh?

(04/10/08 07:06PM) — Elkhart-Evelyn Johnston

Congrats on the phone call.  Go wrap it up now!

I'm always happy to hear about the success of our members here.  What I truly find interesting is how many people I've invited to AR who have neglected joining.  They are missing so much.

That is fantastic. Keep it up and you will get more and more.

Patty & Scott Carroll - RE/MAX Equity Group Vancouver WA

Yup yup, AR definitely has helped my professional life and makes it so much funner to be online :D

Love the graphics!

Cheers,

Cindy

Kate - It couldn't happen to a nicer person.  Congratulations!

Thanks a ton for sharing...it's these kind of stories that keep me  plugging away....

Bob

I thought that AR blogging existed so I could learn how to do my business better.  What a perk that it could actuallly lead to more business.  The blog goes out in the morning.  Thanks for the encouragement.  Gina

Congrats.  I got my first referral before I was every really blogging very much.  Now I can't stop talking about it.

I picked up a dandy client off my blog this afternoon!

Don't bother to tell the ones that didn't accept invitations to join how truly beneficial it is to be here.

Kathleen, congratulations on the new business and the star. You are a star too you know.

Mr. Loan Guru...One of these days we will be reading your post telling us about your first contact.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Sally...Thanks for the woohoos all the way from Hawaii.  It's because of you and others that support so many of us that good things like this happen.

Thank you,

Kathleen

Vicki...You are so right.  It is a win-win situation whether we get clients or not.

Thanks for your comment.

Kathleen

Joe ...Be sure to write a post so we can celebrate with you!

Cheers,

Kathleen

Scott ...The wait is every bit as good as the contact.  Enjoy all your experiences on the Rain.

Thanks for being part of my celebration!

Kathleen

Kelley ...It may very well be because of the Rain.  Glad to hear you are having calls.

Good luck.

Kathleen

Evelyn...I realized after I published the post that perhaps I should have waited to see if I actually got the listing and then to see if it sold.  That probably would have been the time to post but maybe this way I'll get to celebrate more than once.

(04/10/08 10:18PM) — Mary Warren, Las Vegas Real Estate

Kathleen - congratulations and keep us all posted on the listing appointment.  despite the issues AR has had lately it is still the BEST.  And congrats too on the featured post.

Diane ...You are absolutely right.  Thank goodness we're not missing out!

Cheers,

Kathleen

Patty & Scott ...It would be great to get many more.  Time will tell but meanwhile I'll be having a good time here.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Cindy ...Glad you liked the graphics.  Yes, the Rain is a fun place.  There are so many helpful, bright people willing to share with all of us.

Lucky us!

Kathleen

Jason...Thank you for your comment.  It made me feel so good.

Kate

Bob...Definitely keep on blogging.  Getting contacts is great but the whole Rain experience is so worthwhile.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Gina...Keep on posting and keep on reading.  There's so much information and so many friendships to be made here.  We are definitely lucky.

Kathleen

Tracy...How excited you must have been. Congratulations to you.

Thanks for sharing.

Kathleen

Eric...What wonderful news.  Thanks for telling us.  You deserve each and every one you get.

Take care,

Kathleen

Gary...What a nice thing to write.  Thank you so much.  I have people like you to thank.  You have been very supportive and I enjoy your posts so much.

Kathleen

Mary ...I know, I feel like I put the cart before the horse.  I'm all excited even though I don't have the listing yet, and maybe never but I was so excited.  I'm as excited for Rain as much as myself.

Take care,

Kathleen

Kathleen, glad to here the good news. Hope it starts working for all of us that way.

I love Active Rain I just started about three weeks ago and have already recieved about 5 leads from local and out of state agents.  I was so surprised to see it actually pay off and I can't wait to pass back the love that I have recieved with any of the other Active Rain community.

Greg ...I've been on the Rain and had quite a number of posts before this.  I believe it varies quite a bit.  Perhaps our markets might make the difference.  I thought it might happen sooner but then I actually forgot about it.

Be sure to let us know when it happens to us.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Frank...My gosh, you have had good fortune.  That will be good news for lots of others.

Thanks for sharing your success with us.

Kathleen

Thanks for sharing your post and sharing on your success.

Thank you for being part of my celebration post.

Kathleen

Kathleen, Congrats on the contact.  I, like others, have found contacts from blogging that become our clients to be extremely fun to work with.  They are extremely educated about the market, already know a bit about me and are really engaged and an active participant in the entire process.

Steve...I'm looking forward to meeting them on Monday and hopefully listing their home.

I agree, so many clients are very knowledgeable about the current market although sometimes they are not always realistic when it comes to their own property.  They are just like us!!!

Cheers,

Kathleen

Kathleen:  I love this post as a testament to this industry and the payoff that hard work can do.  I am moderating a new group on AR called Encouraging Posts and  would like to add a link to this post there.  Would that be OK with you?  Thanks! Steve

Steve ...How thoughtful of you to ask.  Of course I would like you to link my post to your new group.  Now I'm anxious to explore the site and read some of the posts.

Take care,

Kathleen

Congrats on your contact kathleen. I'm sure you will get another one that will pan out.

Hi Joan Thank you.  I hope so also but rain or shine I'm happy on the Rain.

Take care,

Kathleen

Hi Mike   Wishing you lots of success on the Rain also.

Thanks,

Kathleen

Wow, Kathleen, thank you for sharing this exciting news with us.  It is very encouraging.  Hope the listing goes well and sells quickly.  Good luck from one Virginian to another!

Hi Yvonne ...Thank you for your comment.  Hopefully that will happen and that things are going pretty good in the Northern Neck.  Glad to see you on the Rain.

Take care,

Kathleen

Kathleen, it's such a great feeling when you receive your first referral from this wonderful website.  Congratulations and hope you receive many more.

Kathleen ~  Congratulations!  It is an exciting day when our efforts pay off.  With you, it has paid off in multiple ways...even better!  :-0  Keep it up!

Congratulations Kathleen, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. You are a ray of sunshine here on the Rain.

I think you responded earlier to Kate.  You are so very correct in your blog.  I love "Playing in the Rain" and this is supposed to be for work but if we can't enjoy our work, we might as well quit.  I feel the smile on your face knowing your excitment about the first lead from "Playing in the Rain" and it feels the same as a real good sunrise with coffee in your hand.  Have fun and keep the smiles coming.

I hope you are write - I have only been blogging for a couple months and I just started posting here on active rain.  If the buyers in my community are out there reading the blogs - I'm sure they will get to me!

(04/16/08 02:32PM) — Will Merritt

Thanks for the positive reenforcement. We all need to keep each other up when things in the media are not.  Please keep going we all need more professionals like yourself.

Hi Kay...It is very possible that there will be more referrals.  I am very optimistic.  We are so fortunate to have the Rain.
