Sterling Park - A Neighborhood in Loudoun County, Virginia
As an appraiser (providing residential appraisals in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC), I get to see a lot of different places. When I have time, I report on them:
Sterling Park is a community of older, two-level homes, existing in the forms mostly of split-foyer and bi-level styles, that have the unique feature of being attached to their immediate neighbors. That is, the city of Sterling labels them "duplexes."
The term "duplex" can mean a couple of things, including apartments that are on top of each other. And "semi-detached," is misleading as a definition since it denotes properties that share an entire wall--nothing semi about it. Nonetheless, "duplex" is a term with which one can work easily enough. See the photo:

Sterling Park is near the Loudoun campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and the Dulles Town Center. Further north are the Algonkian Regional Park and the Potomac River. Dulles Airport is not too far to the south. Route 7 leads east to Washington, DC.
Sterling Park is bounded on the north by Route 7, the east by Fairfax County Parkway, the south by Lincoln Avenue, and the west by Sterling Boulevard.
