When you can't buy anymore land or it is too expensive what do you do? The city of Virginia Beach is trying to play nice with the Navy and move businesses from around Naval Air Station Oceana that are not compatable with its high crash zone. What the city wants is warehouses, manufactures, automotive shops in the highest risk crash zone around Oceana. What they don't want is is businesses that attract a lot of people in one area. To that end, the city has hired a relocation specialist to work with businessess that may be interested in moving. The city can offer business tax rebates, real estate tax exemptions and economic development grants. Hopefully the city will be successful and not as painful as it should be. The city let this mess get started in the first place. Hopefully they can fix it before the Navy says goodbye.
