Olympia Area Favorites - YWCA

Olympia's YWCA is an absolutely wonderful resource to our community! It manages two main programs: the Girls Without Limits and the Other Bank.

Girls Without Limits is designed to inspire girls to explore math, science, technology and more. There are free after school sessions as well as a low cost summer camp. The topic picked each time includes presentations by people working in or expert in that field, and participation by the girls. Fun, educational, and that incentive to realize all the possibilities there are for them to pursue!

The Other Bank provides personal grooming, hygiene, and household cleaning products to low income families. Currently the Other Bank is serving approximately 15,000 people per year and familes can come for products up to six times per year. Over 35% of the people served by the Other Bank are under 13 years old. Products provided include such necessities as toothpaste, laundry detergent, toilet paper etc. These products are not covered by food stamps, but just imagine trying to be clean and presentable at school, a job interview, or applying for a place to live if you can't afford to buy soap, shampoo, deodorant and other things most of us are lucky enough to take for granted!

The YWCA is housed in this grand old home in Olympia, and any donations of products or money are so appreciated. Check the website: www.ywcaofolympia.qwestoffice.net for more info and a list of items currently needed most.
