Hikes in the Gorge-spring 2009

These are some of the hikes planned this spring by Friends of the Columbia Gorge. I have never actually gone on a hike with Friends of the Gorge but they sound like fun. I hope I can one of these days.

Friday, May 29, 2009, 08:00 AM- This will be a late afternoon hike with views and wildflowers. Angels Rest at Dusk, OR


Sunday, May 31, 2009, 08:00 AM- This hike will include passing two waterfalls, wildflowers and Mt Hood and gorge views.Hamilton Mountain, WA


Sunday, May 31, 2009, 08:00 AM- You will learn about native wildflowers, ecology and enjoy hands-on photographpy training. There is a $30 class fee for members and $50 for non-members.McCord Creek Photography and Nauralist Workshop, OR


Sunday, May 31, 2009, 08:00 AM- This day will be spent helping restore eastern gorge Land Trust property back from invasive species. Please bring gloves and tools.Dancing Rock Work Party, WA

Monday, June 01, 2009, 08:00 AM- This will be a weekday hike with Friends leader Karl Kratzer. Enjoy the wildflowers and views! Dog Mountain Without the Crowds, WA


Saturday, June 06, 2009, 08:00 AM-You will see meadows, forests, views of Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Mt Hoodand the Columbia River. This hike is 8.4 miles with aa 2,720 ft elevation gain

Saturday, June 06, 2009, 08:00 AM- This easy hike will Start at the John B. Yeon trailhead. Elowah Falls is a large waterfall. McCord Creek falls in a single hyperbolic curve to the splash pool below. There is a small bridge that crosses the creek just below the falls. Elowah Falls Kids Hike, OR

1.4 miles with 280 ft. elevation gain
