Remember that "Just Showing Up" is Half the Battle....

How many of you have heard this exact phrase before? How many of you actually understand the meaning behind it? I'm sure many of you do understand perfectly, while I must admit I will always find myself feeling a bit perplexed when coming across those that just don't fully see or get the BIG picture.

Throughout the years, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to help educate and mentor other BPO and REO agents with their BPO and REO businesses. There have been a lot of times when I couldn't help but see a distinct difference in the people I talked with......typically I could tell who was already walking on the right path and those that needed more direction to get there within the first 5-10 minutes of talking to them.

While most people that spoke to me had very clear insight, realistic goals and good direction in where they were going and in what they were doing within their daily routine to be successful in their BPO and REO business. The others that I encountered were the ones that thought that all they had to do was show up and good things would just magically happen....THIS IS A HUGE MISTAKE! Thankfully, this thinking and logic can easily be corrected if they really want to do more than "Just Show Up!"

Let me point out this, when I write the phrase, "Just Show Up" I mean people that blindly sign up for company after company to provide their services as a BPO and/or REO agent. Then they sit on the fence and wait. Thinking that things will start happening for them. I strongly believe in another phrase, "It's not quantity that matters most, it's quality!"

Here are a few of the frequently asked questions I hear:

"How Do I Get More BPO Business?"

"What Happens Now, I've Signed Up with Countless BPO and REO Companies and Haven't Gotten Any Work....Why?"

"How Do I Get REO Listings?"

My answer to these questions typically is this:

* How long have you been in the business? Which companies are you working for right now? How is your Vendor Rating with them?

* I ask them if they have done their research on each company before they signed up with them? Have you called any of the companies you've signed up with to introduce yourself, to check in and get a better feel for the chances that you will get work? (You should do this before signing up with any company). Have you checked out how much competition you have locally? (research them on REONetwork)

* Do you know if you are working for companies now that assign REO listings? How many BPO's have you done to date? Have you taken any classes or gone to any seminars on the REO business?

You see the picture. Please don't be one of those agents that just shows up and expects great things to happen. More than likely they won't. Go above and beyond what others do, do things to stand out from your competition, educate yourself continually and never tell yourself that it's just not possible. I'm a firm believer that if you do everything within your power and invest of yourself, in time you will see a return. If you work smarter and not necessarily longer or harder (such as in using BPO Automation software) then you can achieve levels you might have only dreamed of in the past.
