Thurston County Fair 2007

The 2007 annual Thurston County Fairjust concluded. The fair ran from August 1 - 5. There were plenty of rides for the kids, farm animals to pet, and low-calorie (LOL) food for the whole family.

The fair seems to always be scheduled on the hottest weekend of the summer but this year the weather was much more pleasant. It was partly cloudy most of the week so the heat was much more bearable than past years. The fair organizer even thought to put up umbrellas in the food court so people did not have to search out shade trees when enjoying there typical fair food.

There are always a number of animals in display at the fair. This year was not exception. Cows, horses, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and etc. could be seen throughout the fair grounds. As usual my daughters favorite animal at the fair were the ponies. We never let a fair pass without my daughter (Claire) having a least one pony ride. This year the ride was especially long the pony must have circled 20 times. My daughter sured enjoyed the long ride but I don't know if the pony was very happy (my daughter weighs alot for her age).

If the pony rides were too tame for you; there were plenty of rides for young kids as well as the thrill seeking teenagers or adults. The lines were reasonable this year and the typical ride cost between 3 - 5 tickets (dollars) to ride.

Even though it's too late to attend this year's fair it's never too early to plan for next years Thurston County Fair. The fair is one of many fun and interesting events / attractions in Olympia that makes this a great place to live.
