Are you an Honest Dog?

In the world of dog mushing, the phrase which holds the highest regard is an "Honest Dog".
An Honest Dog is one who gives his all, not just now and then, but every moment he is hooked up to the sled. You can tell an honest dog by his tight pull on the harness. Many sledding dogs, when fatigued, will stop pulling with any real effort, and just keep enough tension on their harnesses that it's difficult to tell that they're no longer working hard. An honest dog never stops giving his best effort, even when fatigued. Often the lead dog on the harness is an "honest dog", a term of considerable respect.

In the worls of real estate, managing a listing can be a lot like pulling a sled. Marketing a property may become a long drawn-out journey, and after the initial pull, many agents get tired and stop giving their full effort. Directional signage that got taken out by the landscapers never gets replaced, the sign post is still crooked from the last wind storm, the flyer box never gets replenished, photos taken in the winter never get updated in the spring, etc.

You're the only person who truly knows if you are applying yourself entirely to the task at hand, be it in your daily activities, the way you manage your business, or the way you dedicate yourself to your family. Take a moment to consider if you're letting the reigns slack, or if you're still pulling hard. The image of a lead sled dog keeps me inspired to do better and to know for myself that I'm an "honest dog".
