Barkley Neighborhood Festival!
Two weeks ago we had the first annual Barkley Neighborhood Festival! It was sponsored by the Barkley Business Association. An event I would suggest all business people jump on board with, or plan for your community. The contacts were great, and it was a fun way to get our names and faces into the neighborhood!
We helped raise money for our local Opportunity Council, who helps local children with school supplies.
For entertainment we had great local bands, The Motown Cruisers and The Divas. We also enjoyed the Upfront Theatre, an improv company...owned by Ryan Stiles....they
were a riot!
Our local grocer Haggen Market Street Catering provided a FREE BBQ...and rest of us had booths, games, etc for families to interact with.
So, what did we learn from our first event?
A BUNCH!
We need greater involvement from the Barkley Village Merchants, we need less entertainers who played longer...this prevents down time. Especially here in the NW...the first band stopped and the sprinkles started...that was a subliminal message for folks to go home!!!!
We needed more trash cans!!!!
We needed more football players...just kidding there were over 40 WWU Viking players...that was awesome...they were all cute and friendly!
Our marketing should have included signs at the cross roads of the village...so passer bys would know what was going on.
Next year will have the radio station do a live broadcast, and we have more things for the kids to do.
If you would like a breakdown of this event, so you can start your own, let me know, and I will email it to you.
