There are so many negative reports about the National Real Estate market in the media! It seems that the media often enjoys doomsday reports...after all it is entertaining & it sells!
Though there are general similarities throughout the country, there is not a one-size-fits-all report! Where should consumers find out pertinent information on their local markets?
Consult your local Realtor!
Realtors are trained professionals, who understand their local markets. They receive extensive training and abide by a code of ethics. In today's market, it pays to consult a Realtor!

I agree with you Nathan, the media has become all doom and gloom with one happy story. And in this market they love to make predictions and assumptions about what is happening or going to happen. I think that they need to be better informed before they make their reports. But I think your right its entertaining and it sells. So as REALTORS we must educate our clients, and help them make a well informed decisions. Good Post.

I work as a mortgage loan officer, so I know quite a bit about real estate. That being said, I would NEVER sell or buy a home without the help of a Realtor. The best Realtors I know, who get their clients what they need, are worth their commission.
