December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing -Illuminate History this Christmas Season with a Lantern Tour at Fort Vancouver

Illuminate History with a Lantern Tour at Fort Vancouver Illuminate history this Christmas season with a Lantern Tour at Fort Vancouver. The lantern-lit journey is designed to give you and your family a glimpse into the past. Even after sundown, you'll discover, employees worked much more than eight hour days.

For example, after dark in the Fort's bake house, the fires were stoked in the ovens, as bakers mixed up batter for bread and sea biscuits. The baked items were for Hudson's Bay Company staff, as well as visiting traders.

Illuminate History with a Lantern Tour at Fort VancouverNext stop on the Lantern Tour at Fort Vancouver is inside the Fur Store. Once the shops were closed, Hudson's Bay Company clerks stayed busy inspecting, weighing, bundling, (for shipment to England), and recording the furs brought in by the traders.

Each adult will carry a lighted lantern as the group follows a Park Ranger to each building, set up with a scene portraying the "night life" at Fort Vancouver. Costumed interpreters help add authenticity and entertainment value to the 90 minute Lantern Tour.

Sip on complimentary hot cider at the end of the Lantern Tour and feel free to ask questions about life after dark at Fort Vancouver. Tours are offered on Saturdays, twice monthly, now, through February 18th.

Lantern Tours at Fort Vancouver start promptly at 7PM, but you’re asked to arrive by at least 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 dollars for children under 15 years of age. Please be advised that reservations are required.

Why not do something a little different this year? Discover a different kind of "night life". You might even start a family tradition. Illuminate history this Christmas season with a Lantern Tour at Fort Vancouver.
