Cudddle Up by the fire!
Nothing is better then snuggling up close to a loved one in front of a fire on a cold winter night but, at the same time ensuring that you enjoy years of warmth and comfort from your fireplace requires regular maintenance and safety practices. Before you light up your fireplace keep these tips in mind.
1) Have your chimney inspected annually and professionally cleaned.
2) Keep the area around the fireplace free and clear of any flammable objects and use a firplace screen.
3) Keep your children and pets away from the fireplace and of course never leave unattended.
4) Install both a carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarm in your home. Check the batteries regularly.
5) Have a fire extinguisher readily available.
6) Install a guard on top of your chimney to prevent animals and debris from getting in and blocking it.
