Home Buyers Get ATTACHED to Homes--ARRRRRGH!

First time home buyers are so much fun. HGTV calls them "Property Virgins!" They really don't know much about Clark County WA real estate at all except they want three bedrooms, two baths, located somewhere near their work and usually a fence for their doggie!

It really does take going through some homes to realize what your first time home loan will buy. Usually not a very big house or very fancy. I am dismayed when I find a couple where the wife/significant other gets ATTACHED to a particular home. Just because they've toured a bunch and made an offer on their favorite one...they feel its theirs.

I had a special client that I loved. It was a female and she LOVED looking at homes. I do, too. I showed she and her fiance at least a dozen homes. During that time they changed horses in the middle of the stream several times. We started out in touring ranch homes. Then we moved to two story types. Then they decided they didn't have enough money and wanted to start looking at low-priced condos. UGH. All this time I researched the homes, did the math for them, helped them tour the favorite ones a second time because her Mother wanted to see it, etc. A LOT OF WORK. Each home we toured, the female client would have this little ritual she'd go through. She'd go in the kitchen and do this, "cooking cooking here," "washing dishes here." (No rituals evolved for "laundry laundry here," thank goodness.

She got ATTACHED to certain ones of them. Each one was IT. Well after several months of showing them homes they made an offer on a condo. Unbeknownst to me the little section of town we were in was owned by the sheriff and he had decided he would not accept FHA loans. I don't know how I missed that FHA loan need with this couple.

Anyway...when the offer couldn't be offered because they had an FHA loan....THEY LEFT ME!!!

Hope she's happy cooking cooking whereever she is!
