Truly a gift that keeps on giving all year long, the Woodland Park Zoo is offering for sale the Holidoo and Zoo Doo compost for sale this holiday season. The limited addition Holidoo is only available at Christmas. The well-crafted manure and bedding fom the elephants at the zoo is the richest composting material at the zoo.

The Zoo Doo is made from a blend of nearly two dozen zoo herbiore (animals that eat plants) species. Both the Holidoo and Zoo Doo make excellent holiday gifts for the hard to shop for garden enthuasits.

The Holidoo (elephant blend) is in limited supply and is only available during the holiday season and can be purchased at the Zoo Store in 4 gallon, 2 gallon and pints. Holidoo and Zoo Doo purchases help support the zoo’s animal care, education programs and conservation efforts all over the world.

Wildlife and habitat conservation is the key cornerstone to Woodland Park Zoo’s mission. Utilizing an innovative and comprehensive approach, we focus on a four-part strategy that includes: species preservation, habitat protection, local capacity building and community livelihood.

About the Zoo

For more than 100 years, Woodland Park Zoo has been a cherished community resource and a unique urban oasis. Generations of Puget Sound families have come to the zoo, the 92 acre site features more than 1,090 animals.

Establishmened in 1880 Woodland Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoos on the West Coast. The City of Seattle purchase the zoo for $100,000 from wealthy sawmill owner Guy Phinney’s estate on October 28, 1899.

Woodland Park Zoo is surroned by three of Seattle’s sought after neighborhoods; Fremont, Phinney Ridge and Greenlake. The neighborhoods are filled with bungalows and craftman style homes built in the early 1900s.
